Mercury, the closest planet to the sun, has almost no atmosphere and the high temp is around 350 Celsius. Venus, a little further from the sun, has an atmosphere of about 96% Co2 and the high temp is around 500 Celsius. Our earth has less than 1% Co2, but I think due to the power of the green house effect. Co2 is a highly sensitive gas that traps heat from the suns incoming rays. Can an increase in just 1-2 % Co2 significantly change our high and low temps. Can humans output enough CO2 to make a difference?
It certainly is. CO2 is a proven

Do you think the oil spill is important?
The oil gushing out of the floor of our ocean is very important to all. It is a warning about greed and the lack of care taken for our planet and its population do to the amount of money it generates. We must take the time to be sure all work done on our planet will not harm the creatures or people of the earth. It is our duty to make sure no more oil wells run unless there is a safe way to control a spill if it does occur again. We cannot allow big money to make this error ever again. It has cost us the lives of many creatures and the ability of some to make a living now. It perhaps has fouled the waters so fish may be tainted or in the future shell fish in that area will be polluted and have to be shut down as areas where you may take these. The antifreeze used to disburse the oil may have consequences we still do not know like illnesses that will be caused from ingestion of this when swimming. The same for fish that swim through it and take it into their gills how do you know if the fish you eat did not swim through such water? It is a very serious problem and one this nation must take the time to make sure it never happens again.
It is very important! Who the **** puts this giant tube 5,000 feet below the surface. They should

Appropriate degrees of freedom for AR(1) linear regression?
Suppose I have two climate variables that each follow AR(1) (i.e., red noise) statistics and I wish to do a linear regression on them. What is an appropriate number of degrees of freedom to use for statistical calculations? Please give references if you have them.
Use the effective dof instead; ie approx (1-a)/(1 a), where a is the autoregressive coefficient. If my memory serves me, take a look at Nordo 1966. Anyway, ar1 typically underestimates the ac at lags

Is it selfish to have more than two children?
Read this carefully, and take a bit of time to think the issue over before responding. Knee-jerk reactions based on the title of the question are not welcome. If you plan to write people should have as many children as they like as long as they can afford them/ look after them youve missed something fundamental, and you ought to read the whole question below again- this question is not about affording children or your emotional capacity to care for them.
Overpopulation is a big problem and one that world leaders are scared to talk about because it is an unpopular subject and people feel it encroaches on their individual freedoms.

Do you think global warming is a real threat? I don
I am in the research stage on this topic. I know a little about it from TV/internet/and from what people say, but I haven
How to kill hundreds of maggots?
There are hundreds of maggots near the dumpsters just outside of our apartment where everyone throws their garbage. They are completely surrounding the dumpsters and inside of them. They are an eyesore and completely disgusting when they become flies and come into our home. My brother and I are planning to go out and exterminate them and I was wondering what would be the easiest way? Is there any substance that we could buy in bulk to use on these pests or something?? Or a less expensive way??( whatever is easiest)
Use a garden hose. Drown the bastards.
Drown them with water
I would use gas and roast em-----be carefull not to burn down the complex
DDT
buy a maggot monster from your nearest retail outlet
Fire. Fire solves all problems like this.
Also one of my friends once discovered that Febreeze and other air fresheners are surprisingly good for killing them too if used in sufficient quantities.
A mix of dish soap and water can do the trick. Simply mix a tablespoon of dish soap into an empty pop bottle...fill the rest with warm water and then pour it on.
good luck!
