The third lousy summer in a row in Scotland, while the south of England experiences a heat wave.
Is that just bad luck (for the Scots), or weakening of the North Atlantic drift, or some other phenomenon involving the North Atlantic oscillation or other variables?
And what does this bode for the next few years? For the longer term?
